The grapes are from the clay and ironstone pebbly soils prevalent on the McHenry Hohnen Vineyards south of Margaret River. With a northerly aspect, the vines enjoy long days of sunshine, moderated by the vineyard's southern location. Vineyard management embraces sustainable 'old school' practices that were common before the advent of large scale industrial agriculture. | |

Tasting note |
A complex and fragrant mix of cassis and crushed violets. The wine opens to reveal sweet soy and bon-bon confection notes combined with shaved nutmeg and cinnamon. A silken entry reveals a complex palate with layers of sugared plums and blackcurrant fruits. Attractive black olive and sweet soy flavours are framed with velvety tannins, leading to a long lingering finish.
