Olly Smith, The Mail On Sunday, 22 Jan 2012"Pour this into a decanter or jug to unleash its mulberry-like power, with spicy depth, intensity and dark fruit. Muscular vino that brilliant with peppered steak." Anthony Rose, The Independent, 14th July 2012Something for the weekend: 2010 Vidal Fleury Cairanne Rhone Valley, France. A blend of Grenache, syrah and mourvedre, this is a beautifully balanced young red Sarah Jane Evans, BBC Good Food Magazine, August 2012A top choice for lovers of Cotes du Rhone wines. This is a typcal blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre, and with a few more besides, with characteristic blackcurrant and white pepper notes. Terry Kirby, Wines of the Week, The Independent, 10th June 2012Established in 1781, Vidal Fleury is said to be the oldest winery in the Rhône Valley, while Cairanne is one of the designated Cotes du Rhône Villages appellations, so one can trust this to be a beautifully well-made and elegant wine, one that cries out for spring lamb or a roast duck. The dominant Grenache in the blend delivers fulsome bright fruit and freshness while Syrah and Mourvèdre contribute some punch with black pepper and structure, Jamie Goode, Sunday Express, 1 Jul 2012Fresh, lively and a bit peppery, this vividly fruited red has bags of personality. It’s not heavy, and would be a versatile match for a range of beetroot-based dishes. Simonwoods.com, 10 Aug 2012A warm friendly sort of wine, amply proportioned with red fruit richness and notes of coal, spice and brown sugar, but always with enough freshness to stop it going wobbly.
