Tasting note |
A lively blend this is a Caprioska filled with mixed passionfruit on fresh sweet snap peas. Generously shaken it will show a leg of lychee and nectar while remaining firmed by a lime peel acid. Starting the meet boisterously its restrained palate shows something deeper in thought. With a touch of oak and natural ferment this wine is seductive to the senses yet challenging to the mind.

88/100, www.thewinegang.com, March 2011'Another well-made wine from former Cloudy Bay man, David Hohnen's Margaret River project. This is relatively straightforward and uncomplicated, but no less delicious for all that: a zesty, youthful, tropical fruit salad alternative to straight Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc.' James Halliday's Australian Wine CompanionStraw-green, with some depth; the percentage contribution of the two varieties isn't specified, but the Meyer lemon aromas and flavour contribute much to the wine; the palate is well-balanced and long, the finish zesty and fresh. 93 Points. Terry Kirby, Independent on Sunday, 22 Jan 2012'A useful reminder that not all Aussie whites are over-oaked Chardonnays. A finely tuned, near-50:50 blend from the Margaret River area, it is a lovely Old/New World combination of tropical-fruit aromas and lingering but clean, grassy mineral flavours of lemon and gooseberry. Savour as an aperitif, with white meats or crustacea. |
