The Rocky Road vineyard lies in the headwaters of the Chapman Brook, near Witchcliffe in the south of the Margaret River region. With a northerly aspect, the vines enjoy long days of sunshine, moderated by the vineyard's southern location. Vineyard management takes a back to basics approach at McHenry Hohnen embracing sustainable 'Old School' practices that were used before the rise of intense agriculture. | |

Tasting note |
This is a tonic of orange peel, lemon blossom and fresh cut locuts. A lime citrus backbone takes curved form with ribs of mandarin, orangcello and white peach leading further down to a petit waistline after passing thru a soft centre that is lightly washed in almond milk. Finishing mineral and honest with a sorbet kiwifruit zest and freshness this Chardonnay is sexy, sophisticated and sharp on its feet. Forward thinking.

91 Points, James Halliday, January 2012Mid-gold, vibrant hue; the most tightly wound and citrus accented wine of the three chardonnays, this wine offers lemon, fennel and almonds on the bouquet; zesty and showing plenty of grip, the acidity is very lively and lip smacking. |
