Last week (6th May), the Oscar del Vino 2023 - XXIII International Wine Awards took place for the 23rd year, created by Franco Ricci in 1999, president of the Italian Sommelier Foundation and Bibenda.
The name was inspired by the actual Oscars, Academy Awards for Motion Picture Arts, however, the academy only nominates the chosen wines, whilst the participants taste through to decide who wins.
Poggio all'Oro 2016, Brunello di Montalcino Riserva, won the Oscar in the Best Wine of the Territory Category. An important recognition for a historical riserva, the expression of a territory of the highest value, recognized worldwide, the result of great teamwork, from everything that happens in the vineyard, to the skill and art witnessed in the cellar.
We take this opportunity to remind everyone how outstanding the 2016 vintage was, as Poggio all'Oro was also the first Brunello di Montalcino to have received the Equalitas product certification.
