New Awards and Accolades for Simonnet-Febvre

12 August 2012

Simonnet-Febvre is one of Chablis oldest names and was once well known for the quality of its wines. In the later half of the 20th century there was a gradual decline in the companies fortunues and Maison Louis Latour, seeing Simonnet-Febvre's potential, bought the company in 2003. Latour quickly installed talented winemaker Jean Philippe Archambaud at the helm who has has been responsible for a considerable leap in wine quality over the last decade.

Read on to find out what people have been saying.

Chablis 2010 - 16.5/20 Richard Hemming, JancisRobinson.com
'Nervey smoke and flint aromas, green apple fruit plus a good hunk of cheese giving lovely complexity.  Impressive lenght too, really enjoyable.

Chablis Premier Cru Vaillons 2010 - Gold Medal, International Wine Challenge 2010
'Nose of apple, chalk and ozone with scarsley believable levels of mineral intensity and concentration.  Could only be a top flight Chablis.  Uniquely great.'

Chablis Premier Cru Montmains 2010 - Gold Medal, International Wine Challenge 2012
'Mineral rich with spicy reductive lees notes and eye watering intensity and a mineral packed palate.  Very young, will age superbly.'

Chablis Premier Cru Montée de Tonnerre 2010 - 5 Stars(18.75/20) Decanter July 2012
'Classic Chablis aromas of herb, apples, citrus and wet stony minerals.  Good freshness and lifted minerality on the mouth watering palate - it is enticingly complex.  Pristine in its youth, it is beautifully balanced: nothing is over done.'

Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 2009 - 92/100 Wine Spectator, December 2011
'A round Chablis, exuding peach and melon flavors (sic) accented by latent gravel or chalk dust notes.  This is beautifully balanced and finishes with a juicy, citrus aftertaste.'
