Earlier this week we attended the Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Council (GC&DC) Awards along with Bertrand Verduzier from Champagne Gosset.
We watched as David Stonehouse won the Gold and the Champagne Gosset Award with his 2D design for the new CELEBRIS trophy. The CELEBRIS trophy is awarded in France every year by Gosset to a leading chef for their commitment to social enterprise. We were also delighted to see on Monday evening that David has also won the overall 2D Designer Award across the competition for his design.
The brief from Gosset was to design a new trophy that could be made in both silver and pewter and inspiration should come from their unique ‘antique’ bottle shape. The design also needed to include the CELEBRIS logo and the founding date, 1584; along with space to engrave the winning Chef names.
David’s design was chosen by a panel of judges including Jean-Pierre Cointreau, owner of Champagne Gosset; representatives from the Council and in the industry as well as Rebecca Fraser, from Louis Latour Agencies.
Champagne Gosset will now commission a silver trophy to be made, along with the pewter replicas and as part of David’s prize, he will visit Gosset to see how they make their champagne.
