Cognac Frapin, one of the region’s most prestigious and highly regarded producers, joined our portfolio this August.
Frapin is a single estate located in the heart of the Grande Champagne appellation and is unique, being the only significant producer to control every aspect of its production from the vineyard through to ageing and blending on the estate. Their Cognacs are known for their complexity, depth and longevity.
In September Frapin received three gold medals the Cognac Masters competition organised by the Spirits Business.
"The only 100% Grande Champagne Cognac internationally known. This superb Cognac comes exclusively from the most important single vineyard located in the heart of the “Premier Cru de Cognac “. This exceptional VSOP is aged with the multi-centenary Frapin family knowhow. It is presented in a decanter, a reproduction of a sixteenth century decanter in extra-clear glass."
"The 1986 vintage has fruity notes (grapefruit and fig) as well as floral notes which gives this subtle blend of Grande Champagne premier crus, its long-lasting aromas. With its woody rancio notes, the 1988 vintage has given the Multimillesime N° 6 its structure, while the 1991 vintage has given the juice its finesse and delicacy with its aromatic accents of candied fruit, orange, apricot, honey and spices."
"The 1988 comes from an area on Frapin Estate known as Chez Piet characterized by its chalky clayey soil and crumbly chalky subsoil typical of the Grande Champagne terroir. Patrice Piveteau, Frapin’s cellar master reported that “low yields and hot, dry weather led to a good grape maturation during this vintage. The aromatic specificities of these eaux de vie as well as their structure and balance were key in determining our choice to produce a vintage straight after distillation."
