Cherry Stowman from Wakefield Wines reports on the 2015 Harvest on the 10th February.
Great excitement as we have engaged a new piece of r&d machinery - a stainless steel egg shaped fermenter - part of our super-premium work.
The winemakers want to put as much fruit through this as possible to gain the most amount of learning. The egg is on loan for the vintage from forward-thinking tank manufacturers. First variety in this three ton vessel is Gewürztraminer.
Swinging into harvest in a big way with close to 1000 ton estimated to be processed by the weekend. Weather holding well - warm and dry still and forecast is for high 30's culminating in 39 degrees on Saturday.
