The Region

Located along France’s Mediterranean coast, wedged between the Rhône River and glitzy Côte d’Azur. Provence is famous for its lavender fields and more importantly, rosé wines, the only wine region in the world focusing on it, having a research institute in the development of the unique style.

Surprisingly, wine has been made here for over 2500 years, making it France’s oldest wine region. The climate is as expected, Mediterranean, with long hot summers, moderated by the mistral wind, and little rain, usually in the winter months.

The soils are a clay-limestone mix, suitable for growing Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan, Grenache, Cinsault, Tibouren and Rolle.
