The Secret de Viu Manent wines are made in a modern style and make the most of the primary fruit characteristics of each grape variety. Whilst the dominant grape variety is expressed on the label, 15% of the blend of each wine is kept a closely guarded secret. The labels were created by Chilean artist Catalina Abbott and each is an interpretation of a secret. This Malbec is from Viu Manent's El Olivar vineyard, located near the town of Peralillo. | |

Tasting note |
Deep and intense violet in color. The intense nose presents aromas of red and black fruits such as blackberries and blueberries with subtle notes of spices that lend complexity to the blend. It is fruity on the palate with very good volume, medium structure, and silky tannins that lead to a long and mineral finish.

Matthew Jukes' Wines of the Week, Daily Mail, 11th April 2015"Would you know it, Friday 17th April is apparently World Malbec Day and so this timely, lusty, blackberry and cinnamon-tinged wine is a must. With a secret 15% of other grapes in the mix, too, you drink it while trying to guess what else is in it!" Sam Wylie-Harris, Wales on Sunday, 12th April 2015“Secret de Viu Manent Malbec is 85% Malbec dominant, topped up with other ‘secret’ grapes to create this fresh, fruity and cushiony wine with perfumed wild berry fruits that lead to baskets of black cherry, blackberry and blueberry flavours with a smack of spice on the finish.” The Sunday Times, Damian Barr, 24th January 2016This big blend can stand up to the spicy, meaty challenge. At least 85% Malbec, the remaining varieties are secret – I detect spicy mourvèdre and rich syrah. Punchy but with a fine finish and moreish black fruit. |
