Les Maranges which includes the villages of Cheilly, Dezize and Sampigny, was granted its own appellation in 1988. It covers 163ha of red, 7.7ha of white and 82ha are Premier Cru land. The vineyards are planted on well-exposed south-east facing slopes at 240-400 metres in the southernmost tip of the Cote de Beaune. Soils are reminiscent of those further up the Cote d' Or escarpment, containing a relatively high level of limestone and clay. Maranges has an excellent capacity for ageing with fine structure and intensity of Pinot Noir fruit character. | |

Tasting note |
The wine exhibits black cherry aromas with a distinctive underlying earthiness. In the mouth, a well balanced wine with silky tannins displaying blackcurrant and liquorice notes.
