After the ravages of the phylloxera aphid at the end of the 19th century it was the Latour family that first tore up the dead Aligoté and Pinot Noir vines and replaced them with Chardonnay. Today Louis Latour own almost 10 hectares of Corton Charlemagne vineyard within the village of Aloxe Corton. It is situated on the prime area of the Corton hillside of where its southeasterly aspect ensures maximum exposure to the sun. The fruit is harvested as late as possible to guarantee maximum ripeness. | |

Tasting note |
A beautiful gold colour worthy of grands crus with pungent aromas of grilled almonds. Rich in the mouth with oaky notes present. All elements come together to
make this great 2009 Corton-Charlemagne, which is promising today but will be even bigger in a few years.

Awards and Accolades |
93 points, Wine Spectator (USA), 31 Aug 2012'Candied apple and lemon flavors are highlighted by butter and grilled almond notes in this opulent white. Concentrated and creamy, with a hint of seashore that adds another dimension. The saturated finish echoes the butter and nut themes.' 97 points, James Suckling, 17th June 2015'A white with amazing depth of fruit plus sliced apple, white truffle and lemon. Full-bodied, and there's so much behind it. A great wine that offers more in the future...' |
