Viu 1 is a tribute to Viu Manent's founder and is made with the best Malbec grapes in Block 4 on the San Carlos vineyard near Cunaco in the Colchagua Valley. The 2011 vintage was colder than normal in Chile and especially in the Colchagua Valley. Due to the cooler weather and slow ripening, the wines are generally fresher, with greater natural acidity and less alcohol. | |

Tasting note |
This wine is deep and intensely onyx-purple in color with an elegant and complex nose that features red and black fruits, notes of blue flowers, sweet spices, and blonde tobacco. The palate shows tremendous structure, soft texture, and very good balance between tannins and acidity. It is elegant, complex, and subtly mineral with a long and persistent finish.

93 points, Tim Atkins, 2017 Chile ReportThis is the eleventh release of what Patricio Celedon prefers to call his ‘’top wine’’ (he doesn’t like the term icon). And very smart it is, too, a varietal Malbec with abundant perfume, liquorice and blackberry fruit, fresh acidity and well-integrated oak. |
