Grand Millésime Brut
Founded in Ay in 1584 Champagne Gosset is the oldest wine house in Champagne. Continued excellence is ensured by Odilon de Varine, Gosset Cellar Master. 2006 was particularly favourable to Pinot Noir which shows a good maturity, with a lot of fruit and body.
Available Vintages 2016 2015
Other vintages 2012 2006 2004
Tasting note The colour is a bright and clear yellow gold. The first nose is very fresh and expressive with notes of hawthorn, lilac, wild white flowers and fruit notes such as pear, plum and Mirabelle. The palate is straightforward with light notes of violet. Citrus fruits aromas dominate in this cuvée: lemon drops and grapefruit aromas sustained by fruit aromas (pear, plum) thus confirming the nose. In the mouth, we can find aromas of citrus caviar and grapefruit. The finish has a long lasting, refreshing note with a hint of saltiness, and ends with notes of lemon.

Awards and Accolades

94 points, Wine Enthusiast, December 2015

This is a dry style of wine, with great acidity and a tightly wrought texture. As with many Gosset Champagnes, this wine has had no malolactic fermentation, enhancing the freshness and crispness as well as the structure. Full of lemon zest, crisp grapefruit and delicious acidity, it will still age for many years. Cellar Selection.

Drinks Business, November 2015

As part of its ongoing environmental commitment, the foil caps on the bottles have been replaced with a ''new generation'' of foils made from low-density green polyethylene and printed with water-based inks.

93 points, The World of Fine Wine, Michael Edwards

Bright, limpid yellow gold. Fresh, expressive first aromas of hawthorn, lilac, and white flowers (from the Chardonnay), then pear, plum, and mirabelle (from the Pinot). The palate confirms the nose, with light tones of violet, lemon drops, and agrumes (grapefruit), sustained by ripe orchard fruits that bring richness without loss of freshness or finesse—a signature of the vintage. The non-malo winemaking is key to its success.

94 points, The Wine Advocate, May 2016

From an excellent vintage, especially for Pinot Noir, Gosset's golden-yellow 2006 Grand Millésime Brut displays a deep, rich and fresh, very mineral bouquet. This is followed by a full-bodied, very complex and persistent palate with purity, finesse and great expression. This is a mouthful of a straightforward, well-structured and refreshing millésime with a long and pure, salty and stringent finish...

* Le Guide Hachette Des Vins 2017

pinot noir (55%) and chardonnay almost in equal shares in this 2006 with a elegant, energetic and tonic palate. Its candied orange aromas and its menthol notes almost eucalyptus are the signature of this vintage...

'Vivid tropical and honeysuckle characters lead onto a nutty, weighty palate with assertive Pinot characters.'
