Six villages have the privilege of sharing this subtle and enchanting cru. It is the most southerly of all the Beaujolais Crus and typically has good colour, backbone and is full-bodied revealing aromas of plums and peaches. Henry Fessy's domaine contains 7.5 hectares of Brouilly vineyards. The 2009 vintage was awarded the Beaujolais Trophy at the International Wine Challenge 2010. | |

Brian Elliot, Scotland on Sunday, 9 June 2013Beaujolais is another red well suited to summer. The 2011 Brouilly Henry Fessy has those soft and floral raspberry touches that characterise the region’s cru wines. In this case it is enhanced by fresh hints of cherry and a balanced acidity but everything is given extra substance by a rounded, beetroot earthiness. Tom Bruce-Gardyne, The Herald, 11 May 2013"... it is deliciously moreish and as far from bog standard Beaujolais as it gets with its supple, almost velvety texture and its plum red fruit that coats the tongue." Susy Atkin, The Sunday Telegraph, 14 April 2013A fine example from the largest of the Beaujolais crus, tasting of fresh redcurrants and wild strawberries. Bob Tyrer, The Sunday Times, 14th July 2013"Vibrant, mulberry-laced Beaujolais from old vines grown in a family vineyard. Irresistibly moreish." Neil Cammies, Western Mail, 20 April 2013, Straight of the wineThe Henri Fessy brouilly has the nose of forthright red fruits, a touch of pastille notes and a sprinkle of spice. In the mouth the soft strawberry fruit has a nice click of acidity and the lightest of tannins. But it's all about the fruit in this Swiss Army knife of a wine, which works as well with cold meats as it does with a nice steak off the barbecue. Serve with a cheeky chill for a lively spring livener. Mike Tipping, The Press/York Press, 13 April 2013 - Beaujolais is such a versatile wineThis week's stand out wine is the delightful Henry Fessy Brouilly 2011. Bright, fresh and showing forward fruit flavours of raspberry, red cherry and strawberries, it is lightly spicy and floral with smooth tannins. Newcastle Journal, 29 March 2013Delicious, light, juicy red from one of the best sites in Beaujolais. It has an inviting aroma of sappy, spicy, cherry fruit and a fresh taste of spicy red fruits, with gentle tannins. Lovely with Easter lamb Neil Cammies, Western Mail & Wales Online, 28th December 2013, My wines of the year......a wine that demonstrates people's love for good Beaujolais and tastes of soft strawberry fruit has a nice click of acidity and the lightest fo tannins. But it's all about the fruit in the Swiss Army knife of a wine, which works as well with cold meats as it does with a nice steak. |
